“Soul XIV almost never existed. I only wanted to take the best quality wood with me to New York and this beam was very damaged. As the truck pulled away I felt like I had to take it and turned around to load it. It was a strange experience to sculpt it because more than ever I had the feeling that it was the cracks, holes and knots in the wood that dictated the shapes. It wasn’t until I oiled her that I fully discovered its essence”.
